The iPhone 5 needs nano-SIM which is smaller and thinner than a regular SIM. A regular SIM can be converted into nano-SIM by appropriately cutting the extra plastic and then making it thinner by sanding slightly on the plastic side. The device is significantly popular in USA and within the first week of its release, more than 5 million units were sold.
