Experiencing the great competition in smartphone category from some other handset manufacturers like Samsung, Micromax and Karbonn etc., Nokia has announced two new mid-range 2G network supported smartphone models named Nokia Asha 308 and Asha 311 under its famous Asha series which already includes Asha 202, Asha 302, Asha 305, Asha 306 and Asha 311. These two newly announced Asha smartphones are said to have the most affordable capacitive touchscreen display till date.

The common features of both the smartphones includes 3-inch WQVGA capacitive display with multiple home screens, FM radio, loud speakers, 1110mAh battery and 64MB internal storage with up to 32GB microSD card support. They are said to offer ‘swipe’ user interface and an open environment for third-party application development. Nokia Asha 308 and 309 will come preloaded with 40 premium EA games along with the social networking apps like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin etc. They also feature Nokia Messaging Service and are fully capable of doing video streaming through the browser from sites like YouTube.

Nokia Asha 308 is a dual-SIM smartphone supported with Nokia’s Easy Swap technology that provides users the facility of switching between multiple SIM cards quickly and easily without having to remove the battery or turn off the device. On the other hand, Nokia Asha 309 is a single SIM smartphone supported with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in comparison to Asha 308 which only supports Bluetooth.

Additionally both the smartphones have pre-installed Nokia’s new Browser named Nokia Express Browser which is claimed to offer up to 90% more efficient mobile browsing and faster access to rich web applications compared to conventional browsers. They also include Nokia Life+ web app that allows users to access content ranging from education and health to infotainment as well.

The Nokia Asha 308 is said to be available in black or golden light colors, while the Asha 309 would be available in white or black colors from Q4 2012 with a suggested price of US$ 99 (Approx. INR Rs. 5300) excluding taxes.
