After unveiling the Gen101 XS tablet computer with removable magnetic keyboard just few days back, Archos has again come up with an another innovative product called Archos GamePad, an Android Tablet which is designed to serve a great gaming experience like your dedicated gaming devices.
Announcing the Product, Henri Crohas, Archos Founder and CEO said :
When Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, was first released they included game controller support within the framework and that is when we decided to build the GamePad.
Thanks to the mapping and automatic game recognition systems included on the GamePad, we already have over a thousand android games compatible with the Archos GamePad¹s physical controls, including back catalog titles that originally didn¹t include physical controls.
Powered by latest Android 4.0, the GamePad is armed with 1.5GHz dual-core processor with an integrated Mali-400MP quad-core GPU, the one used in Samsung’s Galaxy S III and features 7-inch capacitive touch screen display. However the information about the in-built RAM and screen resolution is still missing, but it has been expected that it would be impressive and far sufficient to enjoy great video and gaming experience along with multitasking. It also includes an HDMI port and microSD card slot
To boost the gaming experience, the device has been featured with game controller APIs built into Android version 4.0 and also there are two analog sticks on the tablet, a D-Pad as well as left and right shoulder buttons. Apart from gaming, users can access internet apps and multimedia file just like other Android tablet with great clarity. This Archos GamePad tablet will be available across the globe from beginning of the October at a price of approximately USD $190, lesser the 8GB version of Google’s Nexus 7 which is priced starting $199.
